Legacy Auto Tech - SUBARU Specialized Repair Facility

Remy is in my opinion one of the best mechanics in Ottawa. Honest, professional and very genuine. I have no hesitation in recommending his shop to anyone out there looking for great service.

I can confidentally recommend Legacy Auto Tech for any Subaru related work. I've had an awful experience with Ogilvie Subaru (I have a review for their service department) and Remi helped me get the right work done on my Forester.I spent over 2 years and 4+ visits at Ogilvie Subaru trying to get them to change my wheel bearings due to high noise while highway driving and steering. Their technicians never did the work as they couldn't diagnose the issue (wheel bearings are very easy to diagnose). I took my car to Legacy Auto Tech last year and they did a full inspection of the car alongside me, and immidiately showed me the faulty bearings and how they listen for them. We took the car out with one of their technicians and confirmed the bearing noise in the ride. Remi told me to return to the dealer and demand they do the work since it's covered under warranty. I also had some ball joins and control arm bushings which needed to be replaced. I went back to the dealer and asked the service manager to go on a road test with me. They agreed to replace the bearings after the road test. The work was done under warranty and the honest work of this shop saved me thousands of dollars.I came back during the spring and had my car serviced, wheels aligned, and AC inspected as it wasn't pumping cold air. The work was done, the AC was tested for leaks and with non found, recharged with freon. I then noticed that the AC was only cold for a couple of minutes before it stopped cooling. I let Remi know and he walked me through the possibilities, he got the car back in for the week after when it was hotter outside. Within 2 hours, I get a call back saying the car is good to go. The AC was running for an hour and the car was cold! All that with no added charge.100% recommend this shop not only for an honest job done, but also very professional quality of work and an educational experience if you want to learn more about your vehicle.

If you have a Subaru in the Ottawa region, Remi is the man. Him and his team are highly skilled and professional. Very fair, honest and reliable team. I would take my vehicles to no one else.Have trusted him with my current and previous Subaru and have had nothing but positive experiences. He will speak firmly on the phone, and understandably so, as he is busy running his business. Once you meet in person, he will take your time and deal with you on a personal level.He has also caught mistakes made by the dealership where I bought my car, which was very nice to find out before these problems got worse.Again, I will restate, I trust no one with my Subaru but Remi.

This is the place to bring older Subaru vehicles. Honest, thorough and trustworthy.

I had both good and bad experiences with Remi. Once he gave me a good advice and I brought him a bottle of good whisky for that. The other time he did a service involving removal and reinstall of the power steering belt. Next day the belt fell off when I was on the road. Remi does not take the blame for that. I guess it was just a coincidence that the belt fell off next day after his service and never before and never after. But I am not coming here any more.

Reddit was right. This is the place to go in Ottawa for Subarus. I was impressed with their customer service even before becoming a client. Remi, the owner, took the time to walk me through the ins and outs of what I should look for in a used subaru and gave me lots of advice about a potential purchase long before I ever paid him a dime. I finally bought a subaru and took it in for its 40K servicing and could not have been happier with Remi's attention to detail and patience in answering my questions. Highly recommended.

You know those times when you have an excellent experience somewhere and you keep telling yourself you should post a review but there never seems to be enough time…well, me too, but no more. Ok. So I called Legacy Auto Tech and said I was looking for a 10K oil, filter and inspection on my new BRZ. The owner, Remi, answered and yes, he’s all business and wastes no time on the phone (I’ve got no problem with that - he’s a businessman!) but then he offers me an appointment the very next morning if I can be there by 8am! Awesome! My experience would get even better. Not only is Remi a very knowledgeable guy, he’s sincere and super patient as he spoke with an older gentleman who had lots of stories in addition to having a very respectful working relationship with his employees. Not only was my car ready when he said it would be at a fair price, he noticed some substandard work done on my car, repaired what he could and took the time to explain (with photos) what else was problematic (which I subsequently had fixed and received compensation from the other auto shop!). Not only did he then take even more time to answer my questions on possible mods, he showed me some new tires to consider and even offered to let me take his BRZ for a drive!! It’s hard to think of what else one could ask for from its service centre. Thanks Remi!
